Indulge in a Retreat Experience at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo
Taronga Zoo in Sydney now features an overnight wildlife retreat where you can stay among its animals while gazing upon Sydney Harbour in the distance.
The Wildlife Retreat on Cammeraigal Country opened late last year as a part of Taronga Conservation Society and by staying here you will also be contributing towards protecting Australian fauna.
Visitors of Taronga Zoo know it is an unforgettable experience – being amongst animals while admiring Sydney Harbour from some of its best viewpoints is why so many visitors make the trek here.
By creating a retreat here, there’s every reason not to leave!
“Our overnight experiences provide our guests with an effective means to encourage conservation-minded behaviors, leaving them more determined than ever to take steps to help protect the environment,” according to Cameron Kerr, CEO of Taronga Conservation Society Australia.
Cox Architecture designed this retreat, featuring 62 guest rooms, five sustainable lodges, and The Sanctuary – a habitat dedicated to guests of the retreat that’s home to native animals like wallabies, echidnas and koalas to name just a few.
Guests have the unique opportunity of awakening each morning, opening up the windows, and watching hungry koalas enjoy their breakfasts!
The design takes full advantage of the incredible views, with especially stunning vantage points from ‘The Nest’ – an exclusive cocktail/lobby area.
Thoughtfully chosen decorative touches have been added to this space, including an elegant large mobile installation of the Regent Honeyeater bird that hangs from the ceiling. After breeding efforts and landscape restoration efforts at Taronga Zoo, this native species was released back into nature.
Me-Gal Restaurant at Me-Gal Retreat showcases breathtaking views, offering tasty food and drink selections to guests.
Wildlife Retreat at Taronga offers an all-inclusive experience, from accommodation and three-course dinner at Me-Gal restaurant to breakfast, immersive Australian animal experiences, complimentary general admission tickets and general admission passes for general admission zoo admission – starting from just $550 per night when booked as twin share accommodation.
“Through creating this retreat, our aim is for our guests to leave not only feeling rejuvenated but also empowered to make a positive difference for wildlife conservation,” states Kerr.
