How to Arrange Your Clothes by Color

Have you ever discovered something in your wardrobe that you forgot you owned?

Are you the type to select clothing by considering which colors pair well together?

If that is the case for you, organizing your wardrobe by colour may be ideal.

Organising your wardrobe efficiently means quickly finding what you’re searching for – colour organizing being one way of accomplishing this task while simultaneously adding an aesthetic value – but doing it this way also looks beautiful and calming in its own right!

Here are the steps for turning an overstuffed wardrobe into an organized dream.

1. Remove All Clothes of One Category
Start at one end of your wardrobe and work towards the other, taking one category (such as blouses) at a time out and placing all items within it onto your bed.

2. Assess Each Piece
Asses every item carefully to see if it meets each of these criteria: Is it still fashionable, in good shape, fitting perfectly on you at present, and do you still love it? If it fails any one or more criteria, set it aside and prepare to part ways either through donation or sale.

Your wardrobe should only contain items you love, fit you perfectly, and make you feel amazing, otherwise no matter what promises are made to yourself, these pieces simply won’t get worn.

3. Group by Color
To organize remaining items quickly and efficiently, group all black items first before sorting all white ones, using the standard ROYGBIV code of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet for each piece that remains. This arrangement will naturally please your eye while helping you quickly locate those which match perfectly.

4. Get Rid of Any Duplicates
As a final step in de-cluttering your wardrobe, conduct one final check to make sure there aren’t too many duplicate items (ie: how many black blouses is appropriate given my wardrobe space?) When organizing like items together you will likely discover you buy multiples of the same item; make sure there’s room in your wardrobe for all of the clothes in there to breathe freely!

5. Continue the same steps for each item of clothing At the end of this process, you should have a wardrobe of clothes that looks fantastic while making it easy for you to locate what you need quickly and efficiently. Though having an organized and color-coded closet might seem excessive at first, you’d be amazed how relaxing and welcoming it can be!

6. Install Lighting
Have you installed one of those battery-operated lights that automatically illuminate when opening the wardrobe door? They make great additions to any closet space and bring light into any new area!
