Creating the Perfect Kid’s Bedroom: Tips for Ultimate Style

Do you need cubby houses and bunk bed slides to create the ideal kid’s bedroom, or is something simpler sufficient?

Lifestyle blogger and mother of three Jess Dempsey shares her strategies for crafting the ideal children’s bedroom that pleases both parent and child.

Keep it Simple
The ideal decor for kid’s bedrooms should be minimal. When starting out, avoid covering surfaces with too many objects – this allows you to quickly adapt or modify their space as their needs change over time.

When furnishing a room from scratch, it’s wise to opt for items that won’t quickly date.

“When renovating our home, I knew I would need to create rooms for boys who were growing,” Jess remarks.

“I didn’t want my children to commit to colour palettes or anything they may outgrow in a year’s time.”

“My goal was to keep things minimal and neutral when selecting wall colors for their bedroom. Their furniture needed to accommodate growing needs while adapting with different themes or styles as their taste morphs over time.”

Add Colour
Bring some vibrancy into your child’s space through artwork and soft furnishings.

“Every child is so individual,” Jess remarked. “Though I may have three boys, each has different interests. To best represent my three sons, I try to ensure their color reflects them.

“My oldest boy tends to prefer more conventional styles like navy and more subdued colors; while my middle child likes bold prints that help his vibrant personality come through.

Jess suggests using bedding and artwork that can easily be changed as children grow and their tastes shift, to add pops of color.

Create a’sleep zone’ A good night’s rest is essential, so create an inviting bed area in which your child feels secure and at ease for restful slumber.

Fun bed linen can add flair and flair to a bedroom space at a low cost – as Jess recently demonstrated by accessorizing her children’s rooms with Bonds bedding range.

“Bonds bed linen can bring any room to life!” asserts Jess. “The vibrant prints and bold colours were the focal point of their room, providing some much-needed excitement for my two boys! Plus I loved being able to flip it back for some added variety!”
